  • Rick Andrade, Content Marketing Specialist, Magnet Forensics

    • After graduating from the prestigious and venerated Wilfrid Laurier University, Rick has been in Marketing and Communications for over 10 years trying to replace a $10 word when a $5 word will do (first sentence in this bio excluded.) In addition to Marketing positions at Maplesoft and Igloo Software, Rick spent 5 years in the wild ride that was BlackBerry focusing on Internal Communications — specifically acting as Editor-in-Chief of the company's intranet. Rick's current role is as a Content Marketing Specialist with Magnet Forensics, providing content to a targeted audience of digital forensics investigators that have seen it all. Rick doesn't usually use his name this much in his writing and is currently a little weirded out but he's happy to do it for you, the reader.

  • Laura Hood, Supervisor, SYNC Owner's Information and Software Translation, Ford Motor Company of Canada
    • Laura's story starts as a Honours BA English and History student, with the co-op option. For her second work-term, she was hired as a Junior Technical Writer at BlackBerry. Laura quickly turned that into a full-time role as a Technical Writer with BlackBerry, working in a very innovative and mature tech pubs organization. She wrote help content for BlackBerry smartphone users, focusing on the needs of the customer. From there Laura realized she enjoys people leadership and began to shift the focus of her career. Laura was a manager of a technical writing team and then became a manager of a software translation group. Now, Laura does both functions at Ford of Canada, for SYNC. From release notes, to safety information, training materials, web copy, help content and UI strings – she's written them all!
