As a part of the career planning process, it is important to do your research and expand your network. A great way to do this is to engage in conversations with employers. The Career Centre has invited employers to participate in virtual panel discussions about specific topics related to career development. The goal for these panel discussions is to provide students and alumni context and insights from an employer's perspective. The panels will be delivered via Zoom software.
For this panel discussion the topic is: Best Practices for Applying Online
Our guests will answer questions, such as these:
What are your best tips for resumés, resumé templates (e.g. Canva), cover letters and LinkedIn profiles?
Do automatic tracking systems (ATSs) treat resumés and resumé templates the same way?
Do you recommend that candidates apply through LinkedIn or do you prefer cover letter and resumé?
What are the job prospects and trends in your organization/industry?
During the virtual session, you are welcome to ask your questions in the chat feature.
Confirmed Panelists:
Sarah Mangat, Human Resources Generalist - Equitable Bank

She is currently the Talent Acquisition Specialist at PepsiCo Foods Canada's headquarters where she leads the on-campus engagement strategies from a National perspective and executes the co-op/internship program.
Morgan MacKay, Senior HR Business Partner - PepsiCo Canada

Anna Stimamiglio, Campus Recruitment Advisor - Deloitte
Thanks to my experience with Ferrero, Amazon, Flipp, and now at Deloitte, I have learned recruiters spend an average of less than 10 seconds to review a resume, and to decide if to consider it further or not. Pretty quick, right? What do we look for? What catches our attention? How ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems) work? Do recruiters look for candidates in LinkedIn? I am looking forward to discuss with you some of these topics and even more, to share some of the knowledge I built during my past experience, and to expand it thanks to new points of view and questions.
