Joshua Leegstra, RSW, St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamiton (SJHH)
BSW and Indigenous Studies Minor '17, Wilfrid Laurier University
- Joshua's initial career aspirations primarily focused on policing, specifically seeking employment with Brantford Police Service, which included becoming an Auxiliary Constable in his final year of university. In the process of determining how to make himself an attractive candidate, he applied to the inaugural BSW program which has since shifted his perspective and goals. Ever since joining and graduating from the program, Joshua has held various roles within youth homelessness and addictions, adult addictions, youth probation, mental health crisis response before joining SJHH. While at SJHH, Joshua has worked alongside the Hamilton Regional Police through COAST, moving on to inpatient acute mental health, and now general internal medicine. In the future, he hopes to complete an MSW, continuing to build on his experiences while serving our vulnerable population.

- Catherine is currently the Manager of RAAM (Rapid Access Addiction Medicine) Clinic, The Capacity Building Team & Community Psychiatry Clinic - Bridge to Recovery, Concurrent Disorders Outpatient, Borderline Personality Disorder Services, Rapid Consultation & General Psychiatry at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton. As the Manager, she is committed to enhancing patient care from a patient centred approach. Catherine has over 15 years experience working in mental health and addictions within both community and hospital settings within Haldimand – Norfolk County and Hamilton. She specifically works with individuals with severe and persistent mental illnesses and substance use and highly complex individuals. Catherine is registered with the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), as well as certified in Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS), Concurrent Disorders, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy Skills and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.
BSW '20, Wilfrid Laurier University
- Tina-Anne is the Buzz Me Program Coordinator at SKIP Brantford. SKIP is Seniors and Kids Intergenerational Programming in Brantford and was Tina-Anne's placement in fourth year. Tina-Anne helped transition current programming with vulnerable populations during the COVID-19 pandemic to a remote format. The service is called Buzz Me, it is a call service for seniors to help combat the negative impact of social isolation. It is a line of communication staffed by volunteers 8 AM – 8 PM Monday through Friday to provide a friendly voice. Tina-Anne is currently working on additional initiatives to bring SKIP programming to the classroom and nursing homes virtually as well as developing a roll-out model for other communities.
