- Petek Yurt is a public policy professional with a demonstrated history of work in diverse government, non-profit and private sectors on a variety of issues including senior's care, housing, vaccinations, human rights, community capacity building, developmental disabilities, gender-based violence, complex health needs, food insecurity and poverty.
BA Political Science and Communication Studies, Wilfrid Laurier University
- After graduation, Julia continued her involvement at Laurier by serving as the Vice President: University Affairs at the Students' Union and as President of the Ontario Undergraduate Student Alliance (OUSA), focusing on advocacy for undergraduate post-secondary students at Laurier and across Ontario. She currently works as a Senior Advocacy Coordinator at the Canadian Cancer Society with a special focus on digital engagement and public mobilization, focused on engaging Canadians in advocacy efforts that bring about healthy public policies that will help prevent cancer and improving the lives of people living with cancer and their caregivers.
- Helen brings a wide breadth of knowledge and experience to the world of EDI. She is well known amongst the EDI community for a strong commitment to fostering a deeper understanding of issues pertaining to equity, inclusion, anti-oppression and anti-racism. She strives to coach and support individuals on how they can be better allies in creating meaningful and positive change. Helen has used her ability for translating research, trends and metrics into strategy to strongly communicate with internal and external stakeholders alike. She is extremely welcoming and supportive to everyone, regardless of where they are on their journey of growth.
BA Sociology, Wilfrid Laurier University
- Jason (he/him) is a Restorative Justice Practitioner at Community Justice Initiatives (CJI) where he coordinates mediation services and works as a mediator and trainer. As a trainer, Jason helps community members develop the skills they need to resolve conflict to reduce tensions and create healthier communities. As a mediator, he holds space for difficult conversations helping to empower people to resolve conflict with each other. Jason has completed the Certificate of Conflict Management and Mediation from Conrad Grebel and is a Chartered Community Mediator with the Ontario Community Mediation Coalition. He is also a trained Family Mediator and Child Protection Mediator.
