Devyn Kelly
Recruitment Specialist, Meridia Recruitment Solutions
Laurier BA '20 Political Science and Cultural Studies

  • Devyn Kelly is a proud Laurier Political Science graduate currently working as a Legal and Professional Services Recruiter with Meridia Recruitment in downtown Toronto. Inspired to pursue a career in talent acquisition after working as a Campus Ambassador and volunteer Hiring and Recruitment Coordinator during her undergrad at WLU, she specializes in recruiting top talent in the fields of law, finance/accounting, and professional services for leading national and international organizations. Prior to joining Meridia, Devyn stayed active with the WLU community, running the Laurier 201 Orientation Program in 2021 after serving as the President and CEO of the Students' Union during the 20/21 academic year. Outside of work, Devyn sits on the Board of Directors and management team of Southern Connection Dog Rescue.
Irma (Brcanovic) Lafleur
Head of Communications, DB8 Labs
Laurier BA '14 Sociology
  • Irma Lafleur attended Wilfrid Laurier University from 2010 to 2014, majoring in Sociology. Originally from Kitchener, she chose to stay local for her post-secondary education. In her second year, Irma secured a position with luxury student housing developer, Rise Real Estate, working as a front desk receptionist throughout her undergraduate years. While Waterloo is now known for its high-rise student accommodations, Rise Real Estate was at the forefront, having developed two of the city's first high-rise student condos: Luxe 1 and Luxe 2 (currently known as the King Street Towers). Juggling academics with nearly full-time work, Irma transitioned into a leadership role in Property Management and Leasing. She eventually took on a role as a Project Manager in the Construction and Interior Design Department, helping launch Luxe London and the Icon Towers in Waterloo before hanging up her hard-hat in 2016. In 2016, Irma became the first team member of local KW start-up, truLOCAL, establishing and overseeing the Consumer Experience and Social Media Departments. Irma played a key role in facilitating community donations exceeding $110,000 and expanded the team to over 60 employees across Canada, ultimately helping navigate the company to a $16.8M acquisition in 2020. Recently, Irma took on a new role as the Head of Communications for another local start-up, DB8 Labs.
Monica Van Ittersum
Curatorial Assistant, Beachville District Museum
Laurier BA'23 English Literature & History
  • Monica has always been drawn to stories, local history, and cultural heritage, sparking her interest in museums. Initially, a connection between museum work and an English degree may not be obvious, as such roles are often associated with History majors. The connection is clear considering that both involve studying and preserving stories. Her English degree and prior museum experience as a summer student paved the way for her senior position as a Curatorial Assistant. Monica's education has honed her leadership skills and ability to communicate through writing, digital media, and oral presentations - all crucial in conveying public history. Her degree equipped her with the ability to organize, analyze, and synthesize information, essential for managing a museum's collection and conducting research. Museum work often involves juggling multiple projects, mimicking the demands of being a student, so her education has prepared me well for the dynamic nature of museum work.
Resi Walt
Member Services Representative, Ontario Federation of Agriculture
Laurier BA '15 Communications Studies & North American Studies
  • Shortly after graduating from Laurier, Resi landed her dream job with the Ontario Federation of Agriculture, an advocacy organization representing 38,000 farmers across the province. Her position as Member Service Representative is full of variety and enables the flexibility to work alongside her family on their dairy farm. Waltz Acre Farm milks 90 Holstein cows and grows crops on 1,000 acres. Resi's proudest career achievements include forming the grassroots initiatives FARM 911: The Emily Project, and the Farmer Wellness Program. Resi is passionate about her work as a volunteer with the 4-H Ontario youth program which entails leading a dairy club with over 30 kids, helping inspire the next generation of farmers.
