This session is intended for graduate, professional program students as well as postdocs. The event is presented in collaboration with the Faculty of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies.
 



Exploring a career in a university setting? Three career information panels consisting of professors, postdocs and university administrators will provide insights into their career paths as well as advice for graduate students and PhD candidates aspiring to work in academic institutions.
  
1. Exploring Work Options in Academic Settings (Professional Panel) 9:30 - 10:30 a.m
 
  • Beyond faculty roles, discover some of the rewarding and emerging opportunities that exist within academic institutions.
 
2. Getting from Here to There with a Faculty Career (Faculty Panel) 10:45 - 11:45 a.m.
  
  • Listen and learn from those who have successfully made the leap from student to academic professor.
 
3. Demystifying the Academic Interview Process (Faculty Panel) 12:15 - 1:15 p.m.
  
  • Faculty will discuss the purpose, process and preparation required to successfully present yourself to a hiring committee.
