Join us as we welcome Laurier alumni working in Human Resources who will share their career experiences and advice. Attending this event is a great way to learn about potential career options and expand your professional network. 

Panellists include:

  • Mallory Rellinger, BA '10, Director, Campus Recruiting at Sun Life Financial
    • ​In May 2018, Mallory started her role at Sun Life, where she works with campus and talent branding teams around North America. Mallory started working in recruiting immediately after graduating from Wilfrid Laurier University. After graduation, Mallory recruited for Certified General Accounts (CGA) and once the accounting designations merged, she began recruiting for the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA). Mallory has spent her career working with young professionals and is motivated by the opportunity to help people find their passion in life. On a personal side, Mallory has lived in France and New Zealand and spends all her spare time traveling.
       
  • Sandi Baker, BBA '04, CHRL, Director, People & Culture Services & Total Rewards,D2L
    • ​After receiving a Bachelor's of Business Administration at Laurier, Sandi went on to do a certificate in Human Resources at Conestoga College. On a co-op term, Sandi was fortunate to land a spot as an HR Assistant at Desire2Learn (now known as D2L). One of only two HR employees at that time, Sandi has seen the department grow to 18 people over the past 14 years. She has had the opportunity to be involved in many aspects of HR such as Recruitment, Policies, Employee Relations, Health & Safety, Compensation & Benefits, and HR Technology & Analytics. Sandi feels the most rewarding part of her career in HR has been the ability to combine her love of numbers and data with her love of People & Culture and leadership, by leading a team focused on Total Rewards, Analytics and Technology.
       
  • Karleigh Buist, BA '13, Human Resources Supervisor, General Motors
    • ​Karleigh joined General Motors as a Human Resources Co-op Student in 2012 while completing her degree in Communication Studies at Wilfrid Laurier University. Upon graduation, Karleigh enrolled in the Human Resources Management post-graduate certificate program at Conestoga College, where she had the opportunity to complete a second co-op term in Human Resources with General Motors. After graduation, Karleigh worked on contract as a Human Resources Generalist with GM and has since joined GM full-time. In her full time role, Karleigh has had the opportunity to work as a Human Resources & Labour Relations Coordinator at GM's Parts Distribution Centre in Woodstock, as well as her current role as Human Resources Supervisor at GM's CAMI Assembly plant in Ingersoll where the Chevrolet Equinox is produced.
       
  • Erin Klassen, BBA'11, MBA '15,CHRL, Manager, Human Resources, Wilfrid Laurier Univeristy
    • ​Erin Klassen is currently the Manager, Human Resources on Laurier's Brantford Campus. In this position, she is responsible for primarily providing support with recruitment and employee relations. She has been with Laurier for almost three years and has over 5 years of experience within Human Resources. Erin holds a BBA and MBA from Wilfrid Laurier University and has achieved her CHRL designation. 
 
  • Amy Beamer, Co-ordinator, Co-operative Education, Wilfrid Laurier University
    • ​Amy started her HR career in the Career Centers at Sheridan College and McMaster University. After graduation, she landed a job in Recruitment at Roevin Technical. Amy took on an HR Generalist role when she moved to Woodstock Stampings (Tier 2 Automotive supplier), and continued to work in an HR Generalist role at M&M Meat Shops Ltd. Head Office from 2003-2008. In addition to her generalist position at M&M, Amy trained M&M Franchisees in proper HR policies and procedures. From 2008 until 2018, Amy worked as the HR Manager at Waterloo Public Library where she had the opportunity to become the Chair of the HRNOL (HR Network for Ontario Libraries) for five years. Amy also worked as a part-time instructor within the HRM post-grad program at Conestoga College and filled a part-time Co-op Advisor role at the college from 2013-2016. In late 2018, Amy joined Laurier as a Co-op Coordinator and is very excited about her new role.
