This section outlines the variety of technological platforms used by Laurier to support ease of access and record management. These include:
Navigator
Navigator is a centralized web-based database used by Experiential Learning & Career Development at Laurier and the Faculty of Social Work to post experiential opportunities and jobs. It also houses the Laurier Experience Record. This technology system provides a 'one stop shop' where students can access information, employers can post opportunities and staff or faculty can manage programs. Employers can advertise volunteer opportunities directly to Laurier students and alumni using the 'Volunteer Postings' feature in the Navigator database.Volunteer Action Centre's Live Feed of Volunteer Opportunities
To make posting on Navigator even easier for employers, Laurier and the Volunteer Action Centre, Waterloo Region, have collaborated to develop a feature which allows employers to share their volunteer postings from the Volunteer Action Centre (VAC) to Laurier's 'Volunteer Postings' portal on Navigator with the click of a button.Laurier Experience Record
The Laurier Experience Record is a comprehensive record for students of their involvement in curricular and co-curricular experiential learning at Laurier. Students add experiences, reflect on their learning, identify competencies developed and prepare for their future.The Laurier Experience Record is accessible for students through Navigator and includes:
- Co-curricular experiences: Student clubs and associations, peer programs, student government, and student volunteer opportunities
- Certificates/programs: Non-credit certificates and workshop series
- Co-op work terms
- On-Campus Employment including departmental positions, research and teaching assistantships, Laurier Work-Study Program and International Student Work Experience Program positions
- Community Service-Learning
- Workplace projects and experiences
- Course-based simulated experiential learning opportunities
